February Skincare Haul (New Changes in Skincare)

Hello!

I hope everyone had a fabulous week.
I had a very eventful week. I don't think there was a day that I didn't have something going on.
Over the course of the last 2-3 weeks, I've purchased several different items that have drastically changed my skincare. Recently, I've been dealing with one of my worst cases of acne ever. It was seriously getting out of control and I ended up doing a makeup no-no (caking on foundation and concealer) to cover up the redness. I usually tend to break out mainly on my t-zone area (forehead, nose, chin) and never really on my cheek area. When I started seeing acne forming on my cheeks, I realized that I need to change something about my skincare because whatever I was doing was NOT working.

Luckily, the acne has calmed down a lot, however, I'm left with so many acne scars. Thank goodness for concealer. In my picture below, I look like I have very little troubles on my skin, but believe me, my forehead is nowhere near clear as my cheeks.

If you are some of my older blog readers, some of you may recall that I've been interested in purchasing the Clarisonic Mia, but came across a supposed dupe, the Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System. The Mia is $149 and the Olay Pro-X is $29.99. I was searching high and low for the Olay Pro-X system in my local drugstores, but they were always sold out and I ended up giving up on my search in nearby drugstores. A couple weeks ago, I randomly walked into my Walgreens and saw the last one of these sitting lonely on the shelf. At first, I wasn't sure if I should purchase it since my mind couldn't stop thinking about the Mia. At that moment, another girl seemed to be looking at it with interest. I knew I had to snatch it away before she does. ^o^

Here is the packaging the Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System came in:

Front                                                                            Back

What's nice is that the Olay Pro-X comes with 2 AA batteries (which were extremely difficult to get in), a brush head, and a sample of the Pro-X Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser.

To be honest though, I prefer using my HG facial cleanser, my Laneige Multi Cleanser

When I first started using this, a couple weeks back, I had what I most feared.... skin purging.
Olay claims that this device cleans skin 6x better than just normal face cleansing and the technology of it works in a spinning brush head, which is really soft. It gently exfoliates the skin and clears clogged pores.
When I read reviews of products like this and Mia, I read that skin purging is expected since you're drawing out the impurities deeply grounded into the skin.
I developed some of my worst ever cystic acne around my nose area, which are where my biggest pores are. I also some some purging on the side of my face, which I've never had a problem with.

I knew I shouldn't be too surprised, but it really did scare me.
However, I kept using it once every night and to be honest, I've seen amazing differences in my skin. For certain, my blackheads on my nose are gone and my pores appear to be smaller. Every night, my skin feels literally squeaky clean (I feel like I can hear it squeak!) and I really am happy that I am incorporating this product into my skincare routine. I'm curious as to how it compares with the Clarisonic Mia though...

To get rid of the painful acne that formed during the first usages of this product, I was using my Clean & Clear persa-gel 10, which I know Catalina from cl2425 used to clear up her acne.

This product is really strong --- it even says "Maximum Strength" on it, which I totally agree since it contains 10% benzoyl peroxide. It dries out my skin like no other! It does work though, in my experience. I had to use it ever so sparingly because it's so heavy duty.

A new friend of mine, Sharon known as ohbeauty88 on YouTube and her blog: ohsharon.com recommended that I try out the acne.org regimen.

The regimen kit comes with a cleanser, moisturizer, and a benzoyl peroxide treatment with (2% bp). Since I have a cleanser and moisturizers that I enjoy at the moment, I decided to just purchase the Treatment and also the AHA+, which is proven to fade acne scarring and also great for spot treatment.

I actually just received this yesterday and tried it for the first time last night. When I applied the Treatment, it stung my eyes sooooo much that I literally had never-ending tears rolling down my cheeks. I definitely avoided my eye area when I applied this, but my eyes hurt so much. >.<

I also purchased for the first time, My Beauty Diary masks. I purchased them in a limited edition 7-best sellers sampler box.

The 7-best seller box comes with the Black Pearl Mask, Pearl Powder Mask, Q10 Rejuvenating Mask, Aloe Mask, Red Vine Mask, Bird's Nest Mask, and the Natto Mask.

Click on the picture above to see the ingredients list clearly.

Last but not least, I purchased the E.L.F. (eyes lips face) Mineral Blemish Powder Kit and the Zit Zapper.

I had high hopes about these products and my initial reaction is disappointment. I applied both on my pimples and they didn't really do anything to help them. Actually, I think the redness was accentuated! A big No No in my book, but I think I may give them another shot when I feel ready. Not now though. Not ready yet. xD

If any of you have tried out any of the products, please let me know about your opinions and experiences.

Disclaimer: All products mentioned in the video and blog post were purchased by me. I am not paid to review these products and all opinions are honest.

Surprise Cash From Express

Hey everyone!

I have a quick news to share! :)
I'm not sure if many of you shop at Express, but I'm a total Express fan. I love the simple city chic style and seriously, most of my sweaters and scarves are from Express because the quality is amazing! I think their quality most matches the price of their clothes, most of the time!

I just stopped by my local Express today and picked one of these babies up! Hopefully, I will get $75!! ^o^

Anyways, I just wanted to share that they are having a "Surprise Cash From Express" event where if you make any purchase from Express, you will receive a surprise gift card with "mystery" amount of dollars on it. I think the  minimum is $15 and you can receive up to $75 off! WHOA!!! So exciting. You won't be able to know how much you get until February 28 - March 20, 2011.

The Surprise Cash event is going from February 11-27 so if you haven't stopped by Express yet and you love Express as much as I do... then go for it!! Their latest collection of jewelry looks amazing! If I could, I would live in that store.

A Quick and Simple FOTD

Hello loves!

As the weekend is coming to a wrap up, I decided to post a few pics of today's Face of the Day.
Recently, I've been obsessed with my hunter green infinity/circle scarf which my mom knit and made for me. It's so cozy and warm. When it's cold out, I always need a scarf because I absolutely hate when my neck feel cold. I have a huge collection of scarves... My friends in high school would often call me "scarvey" because I always wore different scarves.

I sold my camera that I use to take pics of my FOTDs and I'm kind of regretting it. My old camera was able to make self-cam photos look nice, but I feel like this camera that I'm using is not too great with that. Anyways, here is the FOTD for today. It's really simple and not too heavy on colors:

What I'm wearing on my face:
Laneige Sebum Control Primer
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Deauville Light 4
Almay Clear Complexion Concealer in Light
MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW20
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Light

On my eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Wet n Wild Eyeshadow Trio in Walking on Eggshells
Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes Liner in 0L
Loreal Linear Intense in Carbon Black
Sephora Lash Plumper Mascara in Black

Look at how long my front fringe has gotten!! >.<
I trimmed it after I took this picture. LOL!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

A Tag and Valentine's Day Gifts

Hello loves!

Hope you all had a wonderful week.
Life has been so busy and hectic lately for me... it's been going by in a blur.
I'm glad that I have some time today to write a blog post because I feel like I need something that will take my mind off of all the crazy things going on lately. This is what I love about blogging. :)

I decided to do a tag post today and I'm usually really bad with doing tag posts/videos that I was tagged in. I think this may be a first "tag" blog post for me? I should definitely do more!

I was tagged by Jennifer from Rainy Days and Lattes. She's a real sweetheart and always so supportive and an amazing blogger friend!! Please check out her blog because it's totally worth it!! :)

For this tag, I have to answer a few questions.

1. Why did you create this blog?
I needed a place to write down my thoughts and also share my passion for fashion, beauty, food, etc. It's become a world where I feel like I can put any pictures or write down anything I want. I am so happy I made  the decision to create this blog because I've met some truly amazing people on the way!!!

2. What kind of blogs do you follow?
I follow mainly beauty and fashion blogs. ^o^

3. Favorite makeup brand?
To name one favorite would be impossible and unjustifiable because it all depends on the type of makeup it is... base makeup, eye makeup, etc. I guess I lean more towards Laneige, MAC, and Urban Decay, but I seriously cannot name one specific brand.
4. Favorite clothing brand?
I love Express clothing because they're stylish, chic, and city-style. Most of my wardrobe is from Express, Forever 21, and H&M.

5. Your indispensable makeup product?
My Urban Decay Naked Palette. Love love love love x 1000000000000000

6. Your favorite color?
I love all different shades of green.

7. Your perfume?
Absolutely adore Ralph Lauren Romance and Chanel Chance.

8. Your favorite film?
This may be a little funny and strange... but I'm an avid fan of superhero movies. xD I'm a huge fan of Spiderman and Batman. My favorite film would have to be either the first Spiderman movie or Batman: The Dark Knight.

9. What country would you like to visit and why?
I would love to visit a country in Europe because I've never been to Europe. I would probably love to visit Paris and England.

10. Make up the last question and answer.
I feel like I have to be creative with this one, but this is going to be tough. Seriously, there are sooo many questions out there that I could ask myself. Okay, here's the questions:
What do you look for in a guy? I need someone who can make me feel genuinely happy and make me genuinely laugh. I know I laugh at almost everything and it's important for me to be with a guy who truly can make me feel good and happy. :)

I tag ALL of you!!! :)

I also filmed something really quick today. It's really overdue since it's a Valentine's Day related video, but I had no time to film until today! >.< Enjoy!

My Huge Vintage Jewelry Haul (Pic Heavy)

Hello! :)

It's been a few days since my last post. I've been extremely busy, but I like to think positively that being busy is actually a good thing. I'm excited because tomorrow, I will be heading out of town for work, but also would like to call it a vacation because it's supposed to be beautiful where I'm going. ^o^ I think I'll have a few days of free-time so I will definitely keep you all updated and posted with pics and hopefully a vlog video capturing my "vacation."

Anyways, this post and video is slightly overdue because I purchased these vintage jewelry pieces last week (from my stop at the boutique, which I put in my vlog video). Please excuse my tired-looking face in the video. It's scary to see how lack of sleep can really show in the complexion and appearance. No wonder people were asking me throughout the week if I was feeling okay.

Here's a gallery of the jewelry up close. I took these photos using my new DIY mini-photo studio which I created using a cardboard box. I think the pics came out nicely! lol
Comment below to tell me which one you like the best. I'm so curious! :)

Birthday gift from a friend.
