My Newest Obsessions and What I Do...

Hello lovelies!

I just wanted to quickly get in a new blog post before the month of April is over. Can you believe how fast time flies? I know I've been missing from here for a while, but it's the end of my semester in school, which means final exams, papers, presentations, etc. Plus, since I'm a musician, I've been performing a lot recently.

For today's post, I've decided to share with you all my newest obsessions of April.

I use the word "obsession" very often, and being a nerd, I wanted to look up definitions of the word "obsession." Here's what I got from some sources:

So it seems that the word, "obsession" doesn't really have a very positive meaning. >.<
Oh well. To be on the safe side, I will say that these are some things that are close to obsessions for me in the month of April! lol

The first obsession of mine of the month of April has been oatmeal.. and not just any oatmeal. I'm talking about steel-cut oatmeal!
This here is my favorite brand of steel cut oatmeal - John McCanns Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal

Prior to finding this oatmeal, I've been eating the generic oatmeal from Quaker Oats and was actually a big fan this type of oatmeal.
Steel cut oatmeal is very finely milled and at first glance, you may not even think it was oatmeal. I thought they looked like bread crumbs at first.

Oatmeal is said to be a very good meal for breakfast compared to sugary cereals. Steel cut oatmeal is said to contain more benefits as well. I've completely substituted steel cut oatmeal into my diet and I like how I don't need much of it to get full. I love it so much, I sometimes substitute steel cut oatmeal for lunch or dinner. I think it's a great alternative for people who are on diets.
Since oatmeal alone doesn't taste very good, I like to add cinnamon, a touch of brown sugar (occasionally), and different fruits. I usually add blueberries, bananas, strawberries, blackberries, etc. Then I like to add some walnuts and it's so delicious.

This brings me to my next obsession... strawberries.
As silly as this may sound, I really enjoy visiting grocery stores and markets. I find it entertaining to look and examine food. Fruits being my favorite food, I love venturing through the fruit aisles to see what gems are in store. My local grocery store was having a huge sale on strawberries for a few weeks in April. Huge boxes of strawberries were only $4.99 each and I took advantage of that deal. I am not exaggerating about huge though. These boxes were humongous. I still haven't finished all of them yet. I've been obsessed with strawberries over the course of this month.

My next obsession for the month of April is nail polishes.
Lately, I've been really loving nail polishes and collecting them. Prior to this month, I've never really had a pull towards nail polishes. This has probably to do with the fact that as I play a musical instrument, my nail colors get chipped easily on my nails. I don't really like to deal with chipped nail polish very much (not sure who does) so I found myself not caring much for nail polishes. However, recently I have been watching and reading so much about people's favorite polishes and such and I decided to give nail polish another try. Now, they have developed a certain obsession in me. Over the course of this past week, I've purchased several nail polishes, but I feel justified in purchasing them since I bought all of them on sale. :)
Here are the polishes I purchased. Swatches, reviews, and details will come soon!

Essie colors in 'imported bubbly' and 'ballet slippers'. I got them buy-one-get-one half off!

Sinful Colors for 99 cents at Walgreens!

Zoya polishes each for $4 and free shipping!

(If you follow me on twitter or facebook, I'm sure you've already seen these pictures!)

Can you tell what kinds of colors I like to go for? I feel like all these colors are too similar, but it's okay since the differences are what makes them special.

Last but not least, I've been obsessed with anything leopard print. I think it has to do with my friend Wendy from Wendy's Lookbook, but when I see something with a leopard print, a part of me goes wild. It's interesting since I feel like a few months back, I would have never worn anything with animal print. It just wasn't me.

I picked up a leopard print scarf from Zara for only about $19 and am absolutely in love. More details will be on my April haul post/video, but here's a sneak peak.

This is one of my favorite eyeshadow looks for the month. I love that soft wash of shimmer and color.

Anyways, I have so many blog post/videos/tutorial ideas (probably around 20) that I want to do, but I just can't seem to find the time to make them. I've decided that if I make videos from now on, I want to make sure that they're great quality and not something that I rushed. The perfectionist side of me is kicking in.

Thank you all for your support and patience! I feel like I've been meeting and making so many friends here and it's so wonderful to talk about things we love and have a passion for.

Oh and if you are curious about what kind of musician I am, here's a picture of what I do.
Yes, that is a picture of me. I'm sure you can't see my face, but it was from a photo shoot I did about a month ago. It's a very eerie picture! haha
For professional reasons, I don't like to talk much about what I do, but since I consider you all my friends, I am sharing this photo with you. I'm sure lots of you already knew anyways.

Please be my friend on twitter and facebook! I try to update much on both. :) Would love to talk to you!

I went through a strawberry-obsession faze a while ago. Before them, I hated them and the slightest tartness would send a chill up my spine! But miraculously one day, I did a complete 180.

That's awesome that you play cello. I'm a pianist so we should totally do a duet haha :D
